La Secretaría de Salud Municipal de Ibague, en coordinación con la Dirección de Espacio Público y Control Urbano, adelanta operativos de control a las ventas de comida en las calles.

Entre los sitios visitados están los puestos de venta de fritanga y comida preparada, la mayoría de los cuales son sellados toda vez que las condiciones higiénico sanitarias para la preparación de las comida eran deplorables.
Pese a que varios de los propietarios pretenden evitar la sanción argumentando tener confianza legítima para trabajar en el espacio público, las normas sanitarias son claras en que las autoridades locales deben verificar los requisitos de este tipo de actividades en aras de prevenir problemas de salud pública, principalmente por intoxicación, entre los clientes de estos sitios sin percatarse de las pésimas condiciones en que son manipulados los alimentos.

Si alguien acostumbra acudir a este tipo de negocios informales tenga en cuenta las siguientes recomendaciones:
- Solicite que la persona que le vende el producto le exhiba el carné de manipulación de alimentos.
- Verifique que como mínimo la persona que sirve el producto utilice guantes, tapabocas y malla para el cabello.
- Tenga en cuenta los recipientes en que es preparada y servida la comida, así como la forma en que son aseados los platos, vasos y cubiertos una vez son devueltos al vendedor informal, toda vez que no cuentan con elementos suficientes para garantizar el aseo de los elementos utilizados.

- Es recomendable vender alimentos en utensilios desechables.
- Verifique si el sitio cuenta con neveras o recipientes que protejan los alimentos y los conserven en óptimas condiciones para su consumo.
